Brewery

Since first firing up the Brew Kettle in 2000, Hopdaemon has gained recognition throughout the hop gardens of Kent and beyond for creating outstanding cask ales and bottled beers.

The brewery has grown considerably over the years and now supplies award-winning ales to more than 70 pubs and restaurants throughout Kent .

'We brew our beers in Newnham, near Faversham using our unique strain of yeast, generous amounts of local hops, traditional malted barley and true zymurgy. Our favourite hop varieties are Goldings, Challenger and Kentish Cascade which we get from our 'Hop Guru' who grows them down the road from us...' (the Hopdaemon)

At Hopdaemon traditional local-grown ingredients are used wherever possible and quality is the name of the game. The purest ingredients are used at all times and careful attention is paid to consistency throughout the brewing process.

As a result of this attention to detail, you can be confident that you are buying natural-brewed beers of the highest quality.

Brewer

Tonie Prins, the Hopdaemon himself, has been devoted to the 'craft' since 'having a crack' at a batch of homebrew at his student flat in the early '80s. Originally from New Zealand ('I'm just a homebrewer from Kawhia...') he has developed a passion for traditional English ales and brewing methods. Now settled in Kent, he pours that passion into his ales - to the benefit to all who drink them!

Awards

Over the years Hopdaemon has received many awards for its outstanding beers. The brewery has been voted Kentish Champion two years running at the Kent Beer Festival, had the fastest selling beer of the Maidstone Beer Festival (a couple of times), won the Rare Breeds Beer Festival and won the Dover Beer Festival (a couple of times). Hopdaemon's beloved Leviathan has been a finalist in the Champion Bottled Beer of Britain contest at The Great British Beer Festival, Green Daemon has been voted the Best Bottled Beer in the South East by SIBA and Golden Braid has been awarded the Best Bitter in the South East of England.

STOP THE BUS...Hopdaemon has scooped FIVE awards at the SIBA South East Region Beer Competition 2010 and Incubus was awarded Silver for Overall Champion of the Competition. 'Go Team Daemon...'

'We hope to continue receiving awards, but the greatest accolade of all is when someone rocks up and says how much they enjoyed a pint of our ale at a local pub...' (the Hopdaemon)
